RANKED CHOICE VOTING (RCV)

RCV is a simple upgrade to the ballot which allows voters to rank multiple candidates in order of preference. This solves the "spoiler effect" and vote-splitting encourages positive issue-based campaigns and produces a winner that reflects the majority of the electorate. It is currently used statewide in Maine.

ENSURES MAJORITY

By eliminating the "spoiler effect" to elect a candidate who appeals to a broad base of voters.

Minimizes strategic voting

By encouraging voters to choose their true favorite without settling for the "lesser of two evils."

CURBS NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING

By rewarding candidates who reach beyond their base to find common ground with more voters.

PROMOTES DIVERSE CANDIDATES

By encouraging more candidates to run for office without fear of vote-splitting.
