Historically, the U.S. has been viewed as a model democracy. It's citizens can say just about anything they want and there's 75 brands of cereal on supermarket shelves. But that's the surface. Underneath, America is much more complicated. And dark. And the pandemic and a radical Republican government has exposed our flaws, our myths and our vulnerabilities.
Amidst all this, a national election looms. Joining us to discuss voting and civil rights is MassVOTE Executive Director CHERYL CRAWFORD and Policy and Communications Manager ALEX PSILAKIS. There are grave issues with our system, they tell us, but it's not all bad. And their organization has made progress. (Conversation recorded on October 18, 2020) www.massvote.org
